Glass Collection

Glass painting was another facet of Marilena’s practice, an art that works with light as much as with line and colour. Whether applied to small objects or decorative surfaces, the painted glass invited a different kind of attention: the image is not only seen, but also lit, changing with the angle of the day and the space around it.

Using specialised pigments and techniques suited to glass, the work balanced precision with transparency. Delicate contours, layered tones, and carefully placed highlights allowed forms to appear suspended, floral details, decorative motifs, or graphic elements gaining depth through the material itself. In this medium, even the simplest stroke feels intentional, because glass leaves no room for heaviness: everything must remain clean, balanced, and clear.

Presented within the context of her broader legacy, Marilena’s glass painting reflects the same principles found in her porcelain work, discipline, refinement, and a deep respect for traditional craft, while opening the door to a brighter, more luminous surface where colour and light meet.
